Things to Do in Stoke: Family Fun

There are wonderful things to do when you’re in Stoke if you know where to go, and if you’re on a trip here we’re going to point you in the right direction of some of Stoke’s most loved attractions. We’re going to specifically find family friendly ones just in case you bring the whole family here.

We’ve picked five of the best, so enjoy:

Kilnworx Climbing Centre

Our first choice is Kilnworx Climbing Centre, this is great fun for all the family with over 1200 acres of open space with a rope adventure experience. There’s also a Barefoot Walk where you can walk with the whole family, trying out the sensations of mud, leaves and water from a stream.

Trentham Monkey Forest

Again, some much welcome open space with the Trentham Monkey Forest. There’s lots of macaques around so look out for them, and if you’re lucky you’ll get into close contact with the monkeys. There are guides around so you’ll be perfectly safe, and if you have any questions they’re on hand to answer them. There’s also hourly feeding where the guide will talk to you about the macaques.

The Potteries

The Potteries in Stoke on Trent have a great past and an even more exciting future, and if you’re interested in finding out more about the rich heritage of the potteries you can pay them a visit. Stoke is the world heritage of ceramics so they know what they’re doing. There are visitor centres and museums where you can find out about the history and meet the workers for a guide on how they’re made. There’s the Middleport Pottery, Denise O’ Sullivan Ceramics and the World of Wedgewood to name but a few.

Alton Towers Theme Park

Alton Towers is perhaps one of Stoke’s most famous venues. It boasts well over 50 rides and attractions, with live entertainment as well as themed rides and lots of children’s characters around. There’s always something new at Alton Towers and this year is no exception. With the rather excitingly titled Furchester Hotel Live Show you’ll get to spend time with Funella, Elmo and the Cookie Monster and Phoebe and Furgus. All great fun. There’s also the Galactica ride with a virtual reality element that really does add a frisson to the experience.
